IndabaX Zimbabwe is the Zimbabwean chapter of the Deep Learning Indaba. It runs events where local researchers, students, and practitioners meet to learn about machine learning research.

  • Co-organise community events, learning sessions, and workshops.
  • Connect Zimbabwean students and researchers with the wider Indaba network in Africa.
  • Run introductory sessions on machine learning and data science.

Trainer, International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence

Preparing Zimbabwean students for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence.

  • Coach students for the continental and international IOAI contests.
  • Teach the training curriculum: theory, coding, and past problems.

Student representative for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, acting as the point of contact between scholars, AIMS management, and the Foundation.

  • Met regularly with scholars and Foundation staff.
  • Organised meetings between scholars and AIMS management.
  • Prepared timesheets, reports, and feedback for the Foundation.
  • Organised voluntary and community activities for the scholar cohort.

Tutoring and mentoring

Tutoring Lead, AIMS House of Science

Led the tutoring programme for school children run by the AIMS House of Science, which teaches mathematics and science to learners from under-resourced schools in Cape Town.

  • Planned and scheduled the tutorial sessions.

  • Coordinated with programme management on delivery.

Voluntary mathematics tutor, NUST

Voluntary tutoring and academic support for mathematics students at the National University of Science and Technology, the department where I did my undergraduate degree.

  • Tutorial sessions for undergraduate mathematics students.
  • Project guidance for students in operations research and statistics.
